Meet Our 2017 Hosts

Mike Koncan
Weather Anchor/Reporter

Mike Koncan joined Global Winnipeg as a weather specialist in 2012.

Koncan has dabbled in everything from sports programming to comedy. His resume includes working for broadcasters as diverse as the Home Shopping Network and Rogers TV.

He got a taste of broadcasting on the campus radio and television stations at Brock University in Ontario. He knew he wanted more and attended Ryerson University, focusing on television. He is currently pursuing a Meteorology Certificate at Mississippi State University.

Koncan has done stories from gliding in Gimli to fishing on the Red. He’s also had some fun run-ins with “local” wildlife when an emu interrupted a live weather hit. While the show has had a lot of memorable moments, the biggest highlight so far has been his appearance in Jimmy Fallon’s monologue on The Tonight Show.

He has family and memories in Winnipeg, including seeing Gretzky play against the ‘old’ Winnipeg Jets at the old Winnipeg arena. He has very much enjoyed the NHL’s return to the city, the timing couldn’t have been better.

Samantha Stevens
Morning Show Host

Sam's the morning show host of 'Feel Good Mornings with Sam & Travis' on Peggy@991. There's nothing quite as fun as hosting a morning show, except for the four am alarm part. Great music, a fun team and no stop signs from the boss. A perfect combination. Tune in sometime to hear about coffee creamer baseball.

Sam was a board member with the Manitoba chapter of Women in Communications and Technology. She's an annual rider in the Motorcycle Ride for Dad and the ATV Ride for Dad. She has been recognized by the Winnipeg Humane Society for outstanding contributions and nominated for radio personality/team of the year with the MCMA. Sam has also been the media spokesperson in the Dream Lottery for Kids in support of St. Boniface and Children's Hospitals in Winnipeg. Sam spent four and a half years on the QX104 morning show here in Winnipeg, before moving to her new home, Peggy@991. Sam spends her free time playing hockey in the winter and golfing equally as bad in the summer.
